# Bar Graph and its Major Types or Usage

Simple bar graphs are graphical representations of data (typically grouped) in the shape of vertical or horizontal rectangular bars, with bar length proportional to data measure. Bar charts are another name for them. In statistics, bar graphs are one of the data management methods.

The simple bar graph has all the same width, and they show the variable amount on one axis. On the other axes, it also shows the variables measured. The heights or lengths of the simple bar graphs represent the variable’s value, and these graphs can also compare two or more numbers. Bar charts can illustrate frequency distribution tables, making calculations and comprehending data easier.

Bar graphs have three key characteristics:

• The bar graph makes it simple to compare various sets of data among different groups.
• It depicts the relationship using two axes, with discrete values on one axis and categories on the other.
• The graph shows the most notable data changes.

Uses of Bar Graph

The most common uses of a simple bar graph are in mathematics and statistics in geometric shapes. The following are some examples of bar graph applications:

• Comparisons between different variables are simple and straightforward.
• It is the simplest bar graph diagram to draw and does not take a lot of time and effort.
• The most extensively used data representation method. As a result, it is employed in a variety of sectors.
• It’s used to compare two sets of data. The data sets aren’t connected in any way..
• It aids in the analysis of trends over longer durations.

Types of Bar Graphs

Bar graphs can be divided into four types:

The bars in bar graphs can be plotted in geometric shapes like horizontally or vertically, but the most used simple bar graph is the vertical bar graph. The simple bar graph uses various geometric shapes the four majorly used ones are below:

• Vertical Bar Graph
• Horizontal Bar Graph
• Grouped Bar Graph
• Stacked Bar Graph

Vertical Bar Graph

Vertical bar graphs are generated when data collected is represented vertically in a graph or chart with the help of columns, where the bars represent the data measure. It represents the data on the graph’s y-axis, with the height of the bars showing the values.

Horizontal Bar Graph

Horizontal bar graphs are generated when grouped data is shown horizontally in a chart with the use of bars, with the bars showing the data measure. It represented the data on the graph’s x-axis, with the length of the bars showing the values.

Grouped Bar Graph

The clustered bar graph is another name for the grouped bar graph. It’s used to represent the discrete value of two or more categorical data sets. Position groups rectangular bars for levels of one categorical variable, with the second category level within each group shown in the same color. I can display it in both vertical and horizontal layouts.

Stacked Bar Graph

The composite bar graph is just another name for the stacked bar graph. It separates the entire bar into sections. A specific hue represented each component of a bar to make it easier to distinguish between the many categories. It causes appropriate labeling to distinguish the various portions of the bar. In a stacked bar graph, each rectangular bar represents the entire graph, and each segment in the rectangular bar represents the various components of the entire graph. It can be displayed horizontally or vertically in geometric shapes of 2D and 3D style.

They often represent simple bar graphs in geometric shapes like 2D and 3D forms. The representation takes place especially in presentations of huge data. It represented all the above shapes in geometric shapes.
