There are some jobs which we underestimate, and believe we may deal without. An HGV driver does not directly save human life or produce the life-saving equipment. Yet, are you aware that even 70 percent of freight is done by the HGV drivers? The companies are dependant on trucks for their food, raw materials, medicine and other essentials. It’s time to understand the importance of HGV drivers in the logistics infrastructure.
Transportation of goods
Have you ever analysed the journey your favourite fruit needs to take from the place where it grows to your local greengrocers? It doesn’t matter if we think about fruit and vegetables, meat, construction materials or medicine, they’re all delivered by the HGV drivers. If you want to be part of the process, get your C1 driving licence with a recognised training centre.
Even if the drivers don’t directly influence out health, driving a temperature-controlled vehicles gives us guarantee we get our food products safe and fresh. All groceries and restaurant are dependant on the HGV drivers.
If we go further, any business that needs to use fuel depends on the drivers as they supply petrol stations with gas or fuel. If not for them, companies wouldn’t be able to get raw materials to even start the production.
Building infrastructure and relationships
Any buildings, bridges or roads wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the HGV drivers. It’s them who transport materials supplies, and equipment necessary to build our infrastructure. They deliver concrete, steel, lumber, necessary to build the roads, and other constructions.
They also play a crucial role in connecting businesses. Any idea that a company has, to innovate or develop is possible thanks to HGV drivers who break the limits. They shorten the distance between the companies, making it possible to deliver supplies safely.
Helping in emergencies
HGV drivers are responsible for delivering medicine and medical equipment to hospitals and pharmacies. We just see the final effect when we come to the pharmacy to buy supplements or vitamins. Yet, how do they get into the pharmacy? In big trucks!
During Covid, who do you think stand alongside with the doctors, nurses, soldiers? HGV drivers took the risk of transporting medical equipment to hospitals.
The final thoughts
We may still believe the HGV drivers’ job is less important than it really is. They don’t stand in the first row, saving the life of patients. However, without their effort to deliver goods, we would start the fight without any weapon.
Appreciate the job, and read everything on how to become a professional HGV driver.
