How to Choose the Right Bra for Your Breast Type

Finding the right bra size is key to feeling good in your clothes. But first, you need to figure out your breast type. Ruling out your breast type is never an exact science. While each type of breast tissue is unique, everyone’s experience is going to be a bit different.

While your bra size will shift over the years, learning about breast types can help you pick out bras that feel best for you now.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about how to choose the right bra for your breast type. Let’s get into it!

Choosing the Right Style

There are so many different types and styles of bras out there, and choosing the right one for your breast size can seem daunting. Here are a few things to keep in mind when choosing the right bra for your breast type.

Smaller Breasts

For smaller breasts, you need to look for bras with less coverage or padding.

Larger Breasts

For larger breasts, you need to look for bras with more support and coverage.

Asymmetrical Breasts

You need to find bras with removable pads or cookies to help even things out.

What to Look For in a Good Fit

There are many different types of bras on the market, so how do you choose the right one for your breast type? Here are a few things to look for in a good fit.

  • The band should be snug
  • Not too tight
  • The cups should fit smoothly
  • No gaping or bulging
  • The straps should be comfortable
  • Provide adequate support

You can also check out pocket bras here, which are bras that comfortably stretch to fit you and give you the option of padding or wearing a prosthesis without worrying about anything shifting.

How to Measure Yourself

To get an accurate measurement, wear a non-padded bra and stand with your back straight and your arms at your sides. Measure around the fullest part of your chest and subtract 2 inches from that number. This is your band size.

To measure your cup size, place the tape measure around your chest at the level of your nipples. Take note of this measurement and subtract your band size from it. Each inch of difference corresponds to a cup size.

For example, if your band size is 34 and your cup size is 32, you would be a 34C.

Which Breast Shapes Work With Which Bra Styles

Measure the size and shape of your breasts. Not all breasts are alike, so it’s important to find a bra that offers good support and a comfortable fit. If you’re not sure what size you need, it’s always best to go to a store and get fitted by a professional.

Consider what style you want. There are many different types of bras on the market, from sports bras to push-up bras. Each type of bra has its own benefits and drawbacks, so you’ll want to choose one that will work best for your needs.
