1. Arx Mortis at Ghosthill – Killen
Arx Mortis is the largest haunted attraction in North Alabama and was included in the “Top 10 Haunted Attractions in the U.S.” by Rand McNally in 2010 and by USA Today in 2014. It features more than 50,000 sq. ft. of indoor horror. Arx Mortis is open on select nights in September and October, and it’s located in Killen, Alabama on 4051 Hwy 72.
2. Warehouse 31 – Birmingham
At Warehouse 31, you’ll experience the most frightening night of your life as you make your way through nearly 30,000 sq. ft. of terrifying horrors. Warehouse 31 consists of two trails, Rigamortis and the 3D Experience, and it’s one of the scariest haunted attractions you’ll ever experience. Guaranteed! Warehouse 31 is located in Pelham, Alabama on 3050 Lee St.
3. The Haunted Lester Hospital – Lester
Lester Hospital is well known for the paranormal activity that happens there on a regular basis. If you’re brave and wish to experience the paranormal activity for yourself, then stop by The Haunted Lester Hospital and take a tour. And who knows? You just might spot a ghost or two. The Haunted Lester Hospital is open on the weekends throughout October and it’s located at 30338 Lester Rd, Lester, AL 35647.
4. Greenville Haunted Firehouse – Greenville
The Greenville Haunted Firehouse was founded in 2003 and is the brain child of the firefighters of Greenville, Alabama. The men and women of this haunt crew spend all year preparing for the scare season. The Greenville Haunted Firehouse is a not-for-profit attraction and is operated by generous volunteers. It’s open to the public from 7:00pm-11:00pm every Friday and Saturday night in October. The Greenville Haunted Firehouse is located in Greenville, Alabama on 1198 Norman Rd.
5. Sloss Fright Furnace – Birmingham
Sloss Fright Furnace is Birmingham’s largest and most popular haunted attraction. It features “The Furnace Tour,” which is an absolute must for horror fans. It was voted one of America’s top haunted houses and featured on dozens of paranormal shows. If you’re a fan of zombies, you’ll enjoy their “Outbreak 2” haunted attraction. You must make your way through the woods while zombies are trying to infect you. Sloss Fright Furnace is open throughout the month of October and is located at 20 32nd Street North, Birmingham, AL 35222.
6. Hollis Haunted Chicken House – Heflin
The three attractions at the Hollis Haunted Chicken House include the Haunted Chicken House, Haunted Hayride and Haunted Walking Trail. This popular attraction is open to the public every Friday and Saturday night in October from 7:00-Midnight, and it’s located at 7522 Hwy 431, Heflin, AL 36264.
7. Haunted Hollow – Valley
Haunted Hollow features three attractions: Finn’s Funeral Home & Casket Company, The Village of the Dead and Spinal Tap. Haunted Hollow is truly haunted, so if you happen to see a ghost, it just might be the real deal. This terrifying attraction is located at 1000 Ben Brown Rd, Valley, AL 36854.
8. Nightmare Chambers – Fairhope
Nightmare Chambers is South Alabama’s premier haunted attraction. It’s open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights in October and is located in Fairhope, Alabama on 760 Middle St.
9. ATROX Factory – Leeds
At 40,000 sq. ft., ATROX Factory is the largest indoor haunted attraction in the Southeast. Visitors will receive shocking surprises as they meander their way through 1/4 mile of twisted hallways. ATROX Factory is open to the public throughout the month of October (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and is located at 8404 Parkway Dr, Leeds, AL 35094.
