How to Declutter Your Home: Easy Decluttering Tips

Whether you find interest in living with a few stuff or want to put away unnecessary things to make your house look more organized, you have to declutter your home. It is something you should do regularly. But most people do not find enough time or energy to do that.

Here, I have come up with easy decluttering tips for you. It should help you frequently declutter your home. So, let’s get started.

Allocate Time for Decluttering

Start by allocating some time daily or weekly for decluttering. It would be best if you did it according to your schedule. You can be 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or even one hour a day. Make a plan that you can work out.

Identify Critical Areas to Declutter

You cannot declutter your entire home at once, and you might not even need it. So, the right approach would be to identify the areas that need your immediate attention. Make a list and divide your priorities. You can make a list of 5 critical areas to start.

Make Lists of Items

Once you identify the critical areas, start making a list of items you want to declutter. Go room by room; remember it is a marathon; it will take time, no need to rush. You can do it easily if you break them down into pieces.

Make Declutter Categories

Now that you have made the list of items you want to declutter, it is time to divide them into categories. You can make 3 to 4 categories: donation, recycle, sell, and trash. Take a box for each category and put the items there. You can sell the items or donate them if they are in good shape. Recycle which are possible and salvage trash which you must.

Put on Music

Music has the power to take you to a happy place. It can lighten up your mood. So put on some music while you are doing decluttering. It will make your time enjoyable, and most importantly, you will do it with a smiling face.

Make Decluttering Your Daily Routine

Sometimes you do not have time to allocate separately for decluttering. In that case, it would be so much easier if you made it your daily routine. For example, you might not use a particular cloth anymore. But you do not have the time to donate it or throw it away. You can keep a basket in your wardrobe and put that dress into it.

Use Clutter Baskets

If you want something permanent for your decluttering items, you can use baskets. They are suitable for any place, and they look good as well. You can put your dresses, hats, scarves, and many more into them. Always try to buy baskets with lids, as they are good at stashing.

Look for Help

You might find it challenging to declutter your stuff. You might grow attachment or, organizing is not your cup of tea. In both cases, ask for help from your family and friends. They do not have the attachment you do and eventually speed up the whole process.
