Las Vegas is a tourist hotspot and the party capital of the Western world. Due to this, it has some of the best food in the country and some of the worst. This list will focus on those establishments that provide fantastic corn tortillas filled with delicious meat and vegetables instead of breaded and fried, over-salted processed abominations that masquerade as Mexican food here. Couple these quality ingredients with good portions at fair prices, and you have a winning combination! The following destinations are handpicked by myself and fellow locals we trust for their high quality and low cost, so sit back, relax and enjoy your stay here in sin city:
Tac El Gordo
This hole-in-the-wall is a favourite of the locals, and it’s not hard to see why. It’s cheap, cheerful, and has some of the best tacos in town. The meats are all cooked fresh, and you can choose from a variety of fillings, including chorizo, steak, chicken, and pastor (pork). They also have a fantastic selection of salsas to top your tacos with.
Believe it or not, Taco Bell serves up some pretty decent tacos. Granted, they’re nothing special when compared to those found at the places on this list, but for the price, they’re worth checking out. Also, be sure to order their “Fourth” specials after midnight for an even better deal.
Taquería El Pastor
This place has some of the best tacos in town, and it’s no wonder they’re always so crowded. The prices are very low, the portions are large, and the flavors are spot-on. Their pastor (pork) tacos are especially delicious.
If you’re looking for a great burrito as well as some fantastic tacos, then Burrito Express is the place for you. They have all sorts of different fillings to choose from, including carnitas (pork), carne asada (steak), and chicken. Plus, their prices are hard to beat.
This place has some of the best value tacos in town and comes with an extensive list of toppings. The staff is very friendly, and it’s one of those places that just makes you feel like family as soon as you’re through the door. Try their al pastor, and I guarantee that it will be mouth-watering!
Tacos El Gordo de Tijuana
While technically not located within Las Vegas (it’s on the other side of the border), Tacos El Gordo de Tijuana is well worth checking out if you want to taste some high-quality Mexican food on your trip across the border. Of course, you’ll need a passport, but trust me, this place is well worth the effort required to get there.
Tacos del Julio
Located conveniently on the strip, Tacos del Julio is a great place to stop off for a quick bite while you head from one casino to another. The prices are affordable, and the tacos have all sorts of tasty fillings, including steak, carnitas (pork), chicken, and lengua (tongue).
While not exactly a Mexican restaurant, Los Cucos serves up some pretty decent tacos that happen to be very well-priced. However, don’t go expecting authentic flavours but instead, expect a hearty meal that’s big enough for two people or just perfect if you’re looking for something with which to grab lunch.
Tortas Ahogadas Guadalajara
This torta (sandwich) shop has some of the best tortas in town, thanks to their generous meat portions and tasty guacamole sauce. They also serve tacos, but I recommend checking out their sandwiches instead; they might not look like much, but they more than makeup for it in flavour!
El Buen Gusto Taco Shop
If you can get past how ugly this establishment looks, then you’ll fall in love with its delicious tacos. The staff is incredibly friendly, the prices are cheap, and the food is some of the best I’ve ever tasted. So check it out if you’re searching for a great meal on a budget!
Yes, that Taco John’s. While their tacos might not be as good as some of the places on this list, they do come with a side of tasty potato wedges, which makes them worth checking out at least once while you’re in town.
Taco Bell Cantina
This new iteration of Taco Bell offers up some pretty decent tacos that are perfect if you want something quick and easy. They have all sorts of different fillings to choose from, and you can even customize your order to make sure you get your perfect taco.
This Mexican fast-food chain is one of the best places to grab a quick bite in Las Vegas, especially if you’re short on time or money. Their tacos are cheap, tasty, and can be eaten without making too much of a mess, making them perfect for when you’re in a rush. Plus, their chips are great!
Another great place for tacos, El Fogon, serves up some pretty generous portions that come with all sorts of different fillings depending on what you want. The prices aren’t too bad either, which is always nice to see considering how expensive things tend to get around here.
If you love seafood, then this place should be on your list of places to try while you’re in town. They serve up some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had, and their prices are very reasonable, making them a great option if you’re looking for something different.
This place isn’t the most authentic Mexican restaurant on this list, but their tacos are delicious and affordable. They have all sorts of different fillings to choose from, so there’s something for everyone here, and they also offer a variety of sides, including chips and guacamole.
Las Vegas is a city that has something for everyone, and this list is just a small sample of the amazing Mexican food that can be found here. So whether you’re looking for a cheap and cheerful meal or something a bit more luxurious, there’s something on this list to satisfy your cravings. So go out and explore, and don’t forget to enjoy some of the best tacos that Las Vegas has to offer!
